What we collect

Only what we need to run gatherings: your name, email, and the answers you give on RSVP, anthology, or Artist Spotlight forms (including any files you upload). If you create a member account, we also keep your profile details and the messages you post in member spaces.

How we use it

To confirm your spot, send event links and friendly reminders, review submissions, and keep the community running. We never sell, rent, or trade your information, and we don't use advertising trackers.

Payments

Pay What You Can tickets and donations are processed securely by Stripe. Your card details go straight to Stripe — we never see or store them. We keep a record of the amount and which event it was for, so we can report our impact honestly.

Pay What You Can tickets are paid to 4words Community and go toward our running costs: maintaining this website, small stipends for the team when we can manage it, and a pot of honorariums so featured artists are paid. Gifts to spotlighted organizations are made directly on their own websites and never pass through us.

Who can see your information

Only our volunteer leadership team, and only to run events. Your public profile (if you make one) is visible to other members. We use trusted service providers to host the site, send email, and process payments.

Your choices

You can ask us to see, correct, or delete your information at any time by emailing 4wordscommunity@gmail.com. We'll take care of it promptly.

Community Terms

Be kind, be safe

4words is a space for liberation and care. Harassment, hate, or harm toward anyone gets you removed — no exceptions.

Your work stays yours

When you submit art, writing, or performances, you keep full ownership. You give us permission to share it in connection with 4words (like the anthology or event recordings), and you can ask us to take it down.

Gifts and tickets

Pay What You Can tickets are gifts to 4words Community that keep these gatherings running — they are not donations to the spotlighted organization, which you support separately and directly on their own site.

Neither kind of gift can be refunded. Gifts to organizations land in their hands straight away, and ticket money is absorbed into our daily running costs the moment it arrives. If something went genuinely wrong, email us anyway — we'll always be straight with you and help where we can.
